| JSW, Dont forget it is usually very difficult for Chinese to get a visa to go to other countries particularly the USA. Also the cost for a visa is about 1000 RMB fee plus all paperworks and time. However I agree with some of what you say but lets face it there are alot of very wealthy Chinese people in Shanghai that can easily afford these things. Apartments are being sold for $150,000 USD plus which is more than the cost here in Arizona for a house. At the Department stores the prices for clothes and things are just as expensive as the US and these places are packed with people who seem to have plenty of money to spend. You talked about Xiantandi but the majority people there are local Chinese not foreigners. They easily afford the 45 RMB drinks. I agree you can get by on lower salaries as people do here also but the fact is shanghai has millions of wealthy people who can afford a trip easily. |
