| Quote: i find this to be an interesting and informative site for those seeking employment in shanghai. I'm trying to gauge the opportunities available to me in Shanghai. I am 28 years old. I have 5 years of investment banking experience in South East Asia. I have experience in cross border mergers and acquisitions, fund raisings, listings and reverse take overs. I hold a first class honours degree in Economics and Management from one of the top universities in the UK. Although i cannot read and write Chinese, i can speak the language. I would like to see if there are any chances for me to secure employment in the same industry i.e. investment banking in Shanghai. Unquote Hi Sandy, This message would not answer your question as I do not have a clue about the job situations in Shanghai. However, I have a few questions about your background and was wondering if you can brief me a little bit about it. Its cool if you cant, I have no guts amd thats why im not asking my friends/family because the amount of times ive talked about a career change, they just think....there she goes again. I currently hold a degree in electrical engineering from aus (2nd upper) but did not work in the industry at all. I have worked as a buyer/merchandiser for the past 3 years in syd. I have come to realise that the particular job is not challenging enough for me and am looking for a career change to finance and am interested specially in what you have done (M&A). The only concern that I have is that I do not want to go back to university and do another degree. (over that) I have heard that the CFA is worth doing while working, which is what I am looking for. I understand that I would probably have to start from the bottom again which is cool (not really but what the hell). Just want to know if that is the best way to do it and would investment banking companies want to hire a 25-year old with no finance degree and no experience. Thanks With much appreciation SuzieQ |
