| Yes, it's a tragedy. Technically, two Maglev trains can't collide because the magnetic field moving the train will propell two trains on the same track in the same direction. However, the maintenance vehicle involved in the accident was not a Maglev vehicle but a 'regular' vehicle not sensitive to any magnetic field. Apparently, somebody left the maintenance vehicle on the track and nobody noticed this. The the Maglev train crashed into it. So it's not a problem of the technology but of human error. I am very sorry for the people who got killed in the accident. |
