| I live in the United States but took six years of Mandarin Chinese in school. I have never been overseas. I don't watch the news and don't pay attention to politics. So when I told someone I was considering getting cable so I can watch the Olympics this year, they acted all surprised, so I asked why, and they said they weren't watching the Olympics because of the China-Tibet thing. That doesn't make any sense to me because I think the Olympics should have nothing to do with politics, just pure athletics and sporting competition. It made me sad to think that so many people are using it as an excuse to further widen the rift created by those other issues. :( |
