| ikuu: I'll answer the question for you: since the government is corrupt and inept, they did not have emergency response plans or sufficient resources available, even though this is a KNOWN earthquake area. So they needed to make sure that only Chinese teams got there first, even though foreigners could have arrived earlier with better equipment. Once again, like in the snowstorm, the gov't's image is more important than people's lives. And the Chinese people keep tolerating it.....incredible. Ask also why the government did not enforce construction standards or materials in this area, either. |
