Back from Beijing Trip Booking air tickets through Ctrip (whose receptionists are more well-trained and more polite, but may not be as experienced as that of Elong) or Elong (staff is more experienced and so the booking process might be more efficient and smoother) is not that bad after all, the prices they offer are generally lower than our local travel agent in Beijing. But beware that the air ticket prices on the Chinese and English Elong sites are different! As to the overpriced brands, Häagen-Dazs is definitely the one, Starbucks is not, their price is more or less the same as in Hong Kong and Seoul. IMHO, IKEA is not over-priced, and I would say some of their goods are relatively cheap... |

MagLev May Extend to Hangzhou I really hope to vist this city one day to ride the maglev and check out the futrue city of Shanghai!! Is there hotels near long yang station? (walking distance). Once i get a hotel i am str8. Is it ok if i travel alone to this city? I am American guy age 22 and i will have a cam. For train and city=) How is the night life in this city? Good thing united and china air fly from chicago o'hare direct to Shanghai. Sanfrancisco is another city that they fly direct. I was wondering could i record out the front of the maglev where the conducter is? I will be sure to get alot of shots of this train! |

Pudong Airport Maglev in Depth I would like to visit germany to ride the Maglev and also ride Shanghai train for sure!! To bad they don't have info for the tour in germany just yet. For me to fly from virginia to Shanghai will take about 15 hours non-stop and i will be more then happy to do it!! Hey Didi you are so lucky to have video from inside the maglev!!! I would love to see that video!!! Could you possibly show me a video clip or can i buy a copy from you? lol. I bet it will feel neat to stand up at 431/kph!! without falling over. Is there a bathroom on this train? Oh yea about video recording. If you get first class seats can you record where the train conductor is? I would love to see the controls and outside the front window. About weather can the train run in rainy conditions? As anyone can tell i am maglev crazy and want to know all about it!!!! =) |

Pudong Airport Maglev in Depth Hey dom. I see you went to Shanghai just to ride the train!! Thats what i will do later on from virginia! when you get on the maglev can you always get a window seat? Also can you bring a camcorder on the maglev? I would love love love to have video footage from inside and out! Be neat to visit the maglev store. I would buy alot from there. I just love trains and the maglev if my fav. Hey mike you are right they should of made one track cents it goes really fast. I would never see a maglev go this fast in usa because of the strick rules. There is only one maglev in usa and it's here in my city of norfolk at odu. but they never finish the project. Anyways my dream is the go on the fastest train for public service in Shanghai! |
