77 Grace Wang Called a Traitor

I have this to say to Grace Wang.
Why settle on only ten languages? Do not sell yourself short!
I met a priest, in a church function, who can speak at least 18 different languages. The world record is 24 languages, I think. I also personally know a girl who was capable of five different languages at age of 12 and she was fluent in all of them. She and my kids attended same school.

Please take some time to study the subject before you want to get involved in that subject. There are many places you can learn. An easy place for you to start to learn - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d6aUEV9-MC4&feature=related and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e6QTb35douw&feature=related

76 Grace Wang Called a Traitor

@TibetanLady
Lots heated debates and ideals were exchanged here, But very few, if any, are actually from the Tibetan themselves. I encourage you to share your thoughts constructively on the issues related to the future of Tibet. It is even better if you can invite your Tibetan friends to join in. After all this is all about Tibet and Tibetans.

Regarding to the Grace Wang’s case; next time, when the pro-Free Tibet group demonstrates, you, the TibetanLady, can try to put out a sign - “Tibet is part of China!” in front of that group for the purpose of testing the ‘freedom of speech”. What would you think what would happen to you.

Would you like to give it a try?

Lets face it, the pocket picker will be with us for a long time, just like germs, we have to live with it. However, there are few ways we can do to protect us from the pocket picker and minimize your losses if it happens to you.
When I travel to China, I always carry two wallets. I put one in my hip pocket with a little cash in it just enough for a day’s expanse. Another wallet along with my passport/ID, bank cart, etc, I put them in my passport pouch inside of my pants behind the waist belt. I also store a set of photocopy of my important paper document in home/office. This will make the recovery process much easier if the real thing is lost.

65 Some Thoughts about War and History

@AussiePB,
Just like Wonton said, How can you forgiven someone who do not even admit any wrong doing or do not even acknowledge that parts of history.

Christianity teaches the belief that no one is perfect, and everyone is a sinner. If you have accept Jesus as your personal saver, then when you ask for forgiveness for the sins you have committed, you will be forgive. But first, you must admit you are a sinner and you have commit sins, then you have to ask for forgiveness.

Did your grandpa ever receive an official letter from the Japanese government saying that what they did was wrong and they are sorry? Did they ask your grandpa for his forgiveness? If none of above two things have happened, and then what exactly is thing your grandpa has forgiven??

64 Some Thoughts about War and History

@AussiePB,
If I were you, as an Australian, I would find out what happened to those Australian prisoners when they worked on building the Thailand-Burma Railway in 1942?

Then, you can ask any Japanese, as many as you possibly could today, what do they know about the Thailand-Burma Railroad and what do they know about the people who worked on it. If there were one, only one, Japanese would/Could give you the correct answer, then I would forgive them once for all.

It is not like car rental because you PAY BY THE HOUR. Therefore, the best and most cost-effective trips are those that are short in time and distance.

The through rate is - (80000/60 x 3 ) = 4000 truck/hr, 4000x24/hrs=96000 containers/ day That’s a lot!

Lots trucks are needed even each truck makes 20 runs/day.

20 Work Life Balance

Well said Bigbro! The Key word is “Balance”.
What would happened when this Balance gets disrupted?
1, At least, one would not be able to maximize his/her full potential.
2, The worst case scenario, one is no long productive.
朱海军 is example of that case. (BTW, I have just learned this name from JS’s Chinese Blog, and he was a good friend of JS).

According to Mr. JS Wang, Mr. 朱 could have achieved a super star status in today’s blog world if he is still around. He wrote tens and thousands word each day and were extremely articulating. For that, he was admired by many including Mr. Wang. But the simple fact is he can not realize his dreams to its fullest from there he is today, never the less appreciate it!

Let's assume that we can ask him a question why he didn’t take case himself? He probably had 150 reasons to say why he has to do what he did. And he would let no one to dictate his life. And it is matter of his person choice.

Oh boy! What a tragic Choice!

Therefore, I think, every now and then, it is OK to check that “Balance”, to make sure you are not deviate too much from that “Balance”, just like we see the doctor to have a annual physical check up. Smoking is not going to kill a person over night, but we all know what it can do to a person’s heath over the long term. Sleeping deprivation is similar to that.

I wish all of you could live a long healthy, happy, and productive life. So we can take care of our commitments to all others better!

14 Got Cold Again

Flu is the common name for influenza, a virus that attacks the respiratory system.
There are three different types of the flu virus. Types A and B can cause widespread flu outbreaks (although type B usually causes less severe symptoms than type A). Type C is fairly rare and causes only mild symptoms.
Usually when you're sick with a virus, your body builds up a defense system (which involves making antibodies) against the virus, so you don't get that particular strain of virus again. Unfortunately, flu viruses mutate (change) each year, so you aren't protected from the disease forever. Some years the change in the flu virus is slight, so even if you get the flu it's a mild case because the antibodies give you partial protection. But every 10 years or so the flu virus undergoes a major change, and many people get severe cases. Epidemics is the large-scale outbreaks.

4 Jian Shuo Wang is Going to U.S.

If you insist to visit northeast and Chicago during the month of December, my advice to you is to try making your travel plan a bit flexible. Let’s say to have a plan A and a plan B. Comparing to Jan. Feb., although December does have the worst weather, it still can cause the roads closing and airport shut downs. The possibility is there.

As far as Chicago, I have to agree with LTZ, Skip it! This will allow you to have more time in the East Coast. All the cities there are not far from each other and all those cities have Chinatown. In Chinatown, there has the long distance bus services to all other cities you want go and it is cheap. The buses are operated by the local Chinese. They depart from one Chinatown and arrive to another. Ask the locals when got there.

I live only hour and a half away north of Chicago. The city of Chicago has a magnificent lakefront. But you only can fully appreciate its beauty during a warmer month. Visit it next time. Good Luck!

3 I Got my U.S. Visa

Carsten: There are three ways to apply a Visa for China that I know of. 1, By mail; sent in the application form, your passport, and 45 bucks. Then all you have to do is wait for about two weeks. Your visa will arrive at your mailbox. For $20 more, you only have to wait for 3~4 days. 2, Apply in person. 3, A travel agency will help you to do the work for 65 bucks.

You can apply for multiple entries without problems.

2 I Got my U.S. Visa

The American politicians have to show the American people that they have done something to make them feel safer. Making the visa application process unnecessarily difficult for every one is one of the many ways they came up. Please hate the terrorists and forgive the American government, or else name one government that is smarter then US government.

Isolation? America? … These two words do not go together! Americans are made up by the people from all corners of this earth and more are coming every day. Sorry I have to bring this up. Still I can not think of any other country that is more open then United States.
