After a charming 6 months period of adventure, discovery, and excitement, Any foreigner in Shanghai will aspire to different things as local people. Being abroad has to be advantageous in a way or an another. We (foreigner) like different foods, sports, occupations, hobbies, and have different needs. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 10,000 Rmb is just what need a 25+ years old foreigner in Shanghai to live correctly, without saving any money and without travelling through China-Asia. When you just get out of student life, it should be easier... but Rmb 7,000 is a real minimum for any foreigner in Shanghai. If you are able to get 15K then life is becoming much more comfortable. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3years in Shanghai have made me well aware of what's acceptable or no in a long time. 4600 rmb is the correct monthly deduction amount for tax calculation for foreigners in Shanghai... |

Shanghai Metro Line #4 I take the Metro Line4 to my office almost every working day. It is very convinent.But as you mentioned above the project is not finished yet, the waiting time between two trains is about 12minutes, it is too long. Hope it can finished as soon as possible. PS: I comed from hubei province and has worked at shanghai for 9years. I think every city and its citizen have its advantage and shortage.So please treat the other city peacefully and fairly.The world is various, and the difference make the world colorful. |

Satellite Dishes Still Forbidden in China I have been living in China for over 3 years now (I am American) and have lived in Jinan, Qingdao and now Wuxi. When I arrived in Wuxi over a year and a half ago I bought a satellite tv system (DREAM TV) and had it installed at my apartment. It is great. But now I'm moving to a new apartment building, a beautiful and modern facility but they are giving me some hassle about installing the dish. OMG... so frustrating. |

We are considering Shimao Lakeside Garden for a resident and the Fortune Kindergarten local school for our kids which I think is on Dong Huang Long Road. Are you able to tell me how far apart Shimao Lakeside and Fortune Kindergarten are in Kilometers and maybe indicating where they are on your map using the street names for reference points? |

PVG: Transition to Hong Qiao (SHA) It's sounds like a kamikaze planning! Have you ever experience this transfer? 40min might be enough if you don't have to wait for your luggage. I don't agree with the 1 hour bus ride. Last weekend I took the line to Hong Qiao airport and first it stops in Ji'an district before it's going to the HQ airport and there are so MANY traffic lights before you reach Ji'an or HQ airport. No traffic jam? You should know it better, you have a car now! From Pudong Airport to Hong Qiao airport sucks! Joe |
