5 Cheat-Sheet of Shanghai Road Names

While I applaud the government's concern over misnamed and inconsistent names, creating a committee of 26 to tackle it scares the heck out of me. It'll probably take 26 years for them to come to any conclusion.

4 Top 10 Places to See in New York City

Since you like trains and subways so much, you can spend a whole day just exploring the subways system (biggest in the world). All it will cost you is $2.00 to boot!!!

If you fly into JFK airport, you can take the new monorail that connects to the subway. The monorail isn't that great though. Transfer to subway (far from manhatten) is a bit of a hassle. The whole monorail project was delayed and overran costs for a long time, and I hear a person even died during the testing of it.

3 Jian Shuo Wang is Going to U.S.

I would say cut back to skip Chicago. Nothing really there except the Sears tower and minor attractions.

For the same reason a lessor degree, you might want to cut back on Boston and DC.

Definitely load up on NYC. There's so much to do: Wall St., Statue of Liberty, Chinatown (LA's chinatown is nothing compared to NYC's THREE C-towns) , Midtown, Soho, Broadway, Museums, etc, etc ,etc, etc.

San Fran, Vegas, and LA are all nice too.

Since you will probably be able to visit the US again in the future, my advise would be to go to a few places first, and really experience all of it, instead of making a whirlwind tour. You can visit the 2nd tier cities on future visits.

2 My Functional Spec

On a tangent, I feel that schools don't teach enough of these project management skills for CS or IS majors. I didn't learn this stuff until I started working for a consulting company. I feel that unless graduates in china get formal training in these areas at work, they will never learn these critical skills.

1 My Functional Spec

Well, I think part of it is the nature of current projects in China, which are relatively small. When the size and scope of software reaches a certain critical mass, it becomes impossible for one person to understand it all. That's where documentation comes in, to facilitate communication and understanding of the solution between multiple team members.

Heck, I can write a text editor myself, without any documentation. But try building a stock trading system by yourself. Impossible without documentation.
