More Accidents in 2008 I don't understand why you describe events such as foot and mouth disease and train crashes as "terror". Yes they may be terrible, but these things happen all the time. China has disease outbreaks like SARS, bird flu, floods and some bad accidents everv year. If anything, 2008 will be safer because of all the security. |

Slow Internet Connection in Early May I can’t understand why Microsoft is still so popular in China. All those updates, service packs and viruses. Switch to Macs. Life is so much more pleasant. |

Friends Started to Boycott French Products I take it then that Les Mis has not had much of a run in China. The French love a good demonstration. To the barricades! As Chinese people get more opportunities to come in contact with other countries what Britain and other European countries have know for centuries – the French will protest about anything. All I can say is that it’s just as well it wasn’t French farmers against the Olympic Torch. And anyway, if T!bet is part of China and the poor girl was attacked by a T!betan then shouldn’t you be boycotting Chinese goods? |

Pudong Airport Maglev in Depth Hi Jian Shuo, I got back a week ago from visiting my son who teaches in Shanghai, we used Pudong airport four times while we were there and rode the Maglev three times, twice at 300K and once at 431K. Its certainly impressive and much less frightening than travelling by road from the airport during rush hour, which is what we did when we first arrived. |
