U.S. Paused All Visa Application in China i understand...it is difficult.....the vo are so far away from their home country...must be some tough ppl to be able to do that...leave ur home country to go to a third world place to work .....dealing with all issues.....they have responsiblilties...and honesty, our chinese ppl lies,,,,,we cheat the government...of course they have to be discerning!!! i want to visit my bf in u.s. myself...using tourist visa...who knows...it might be difficult..i stayed there for 9 years for college and grad school and worked there..still....sigh....wish me luck |

Added Today in History I have read through a lot of your site and you seem very knowledgable. I am traveling to China for a few months to teach english and am scheduled to arrive in Beijing (PEK) at 4:05pm on February 9. I need to make it to JiNan that evening and was wondering if it is smarter to buy my ticket ahead of time and pay the extra fees they charge in the US or if I should wait. There is a flight at 7:05 Air China and then at 10:05 Air China and China Eastern. I need to arive in JiNan that evening and would really like to make the 7:05 flight. I was advised by my contact in China that there shouldnt be any difficulty to catch it if I buy my ticket after I arrive but I am nervous that it will fill up. Any advise would be helpful!!!!! BlueZone's Xinjiang Impression I guess you are getting old just like I am now. I used to travel alot. Where to Study Chinese, Beijing or Shanghai? hi ,Arne, I just e-mail Ertug who has the same questions with you . about your questions ,my suggestions is Beijing Language and Culture University is very famous for its good Chinese teaching,but the tuition is more expensive than the other schools ,and I think the problem is that there are too many foreigners so you can't get more opportunity to practise your chinese and make chinese friends .so ,if you only want to learn mandarin ,I recommend some private language school which also has good teaching and cheaper tuition .I know some schools are almost in the center of Beijing,very convenience . speak of where to live ,it depend on what kind of place do you like ,modern or traditional ?if you like modern ,there are a lot of place to choose .but if you like to know chinese culture ,I highly recommend you go into Hutong(Hutong is a kind of old street where people of Beijing love to live) ,which can give you culture shock,and there are a lot of Hutong not only has good apartments ,warmhearted chinese people .but also can give you quiet life during daytime and colorful night life.I recommended a British to live in Juer Hutong three months ago ,and now he tells me ,he likes there very much .so ,if you are willing to observe what Cinese do ,think and say ,go to live in Hutong is the best choice .I promise ! don't worry about night life ,there are lots of bars and performances,you will find what you want . forgot to introduce myself ,my name is Rachel (my english teacher gave me the name )I am a Beijing girl .I graduated from normal university .if you still have some questions ,just E-mail me ! very glad if I can help you . |

Planning to Travel to Tokyo Travelling in Japan is very convenent. bus,subway and train are clean and praticle. and as a Chinese we surely have advantage. we can't spreak the language but we can read the names of busstops and the menu. it helps alot. Tokyo ist very expensive, especially the hotels. I personally like kyoto better. It's more traditional. the lonely planet travel book is also a good help. |

Nice Meetup with Hailey and Roddy We can sense this discrimination between different cities and regions not only in China, but also when we are away from China in a foreign country. To be honest I don't like the place where I was born and grow up. In a village that dominated by some family chains, a family with so many relatives there being bullied, their children being insulted, their property being stolen are common. Who will care about small things like this? Since murders are not rare stories anymore? The reason of discrimination lies mainly in the people itself not where they are from. Those differences between people in different cities and regions are far beyond their geographic borders, they have their different culture. People who are better educated and better informed will behave better normally. In China the lost generation is still alive. The generation right after that are somewhat poisoned too. To solve problems by violence and money are still the most popular way to do it. Not all the people what to solve their problem by violence and money; they do it because they don't know the law or they don't trust the police. I'm glad to see some people are getting richer, but I'm worried about the problems in China. Not everything is as rosy and beautiful as the bund. Behind the neon light, how about the poor, the jobless, people who live in the countryside, the farmers! How about the people’s spiritual life? What they were educated to believe in Chairman Mao didn't bring them good live, the economic reform make them believe in Money, that's even more dangerous! |
