What the Term China, or France Means? Two interesting discussions. The first one was posted in 2007. http://discussions.pbs.org/viewtopic.pbs?t=68073&postdays=0&postorder=asc&topic_view=&start=0 http://fray.slate.com/discuss/forums/thread/1062263.aspx?ArticleID=2187567 |

Lovely English-Speaking Jinjiang Taxi Driver I usually compare the price between ctrip.com and http://www.elong.net/ for best price. Both companies are pretty reputable in China. |

Seoul Changes Chinese Name Korean surely have the right to call their capital whatever they like to call, or change the "Chinese Name" of Seoul they use (if they are still officially using any Chinese characters). But I do not think China and its people have the obligation to switch to the same Chinese name Korean want. After all it's about how Chinese use Chinese. We call San Francisco 旧金山, which has nothing to do the meaning or the pronounciation. BTW, "Seoul" originated from ancient Chinese as well. |

Sina, Sohu or Netease? Thanks for your perspective on SINA. SINA has also signed a deal with BBC to provide English lessons to chinese users via SMS. Thought that would be very profitable, in addition to all the revenue streams you have already mentioned. Now I am just being puzzled why SINA's stock price is lagging behind SOHU all the time. |

Bill Gates Murdered by Media in China I am not sure about Bill Gates. But the fake news, citing CNN as the source, may damage CNN's reputation, especially now that it is trying to enter the Chinese market. Thank God, this news didn't appear during regular trading hours. Otherwise, it might have an impact on MSFT stock's price for a brief moment. I remember a year or two ago, that happened to the Oracle's CEO, causing panic selling of the stock. |

Bill Gates Murdered by Media in China This is excellent. I imagine Bill Gates and CNN can easily sue the chinese portals. Much to worry about SINA's and SOHU's stock prices from this point onwards... |

Net Send - Yet Another Type of Spam Hello Everyone, Well, first I have to say that I agree somewhat with marketer. You pay for cable or satellite to see your movies on tv, then they send you their advertisements that they paid for. It's pretty much the same with the internet. You paid for access, and someone else is paying to advertise where you can see it. Just like tv, you can change the channel, but you have to press the button on the remote to do so. On your conputer, that is attached to the internet, you just have to press the little button on the mouse when it is over the X. Pretty much the same thing. I do not like ads on tv, and I do not like spam email. I do not like messenger ads eigther, but I have at least have the power to shut them off. I know that it seems silly, but you can't stop the ads on tv, snail mail, radio, billboards or any other type of advertising. At least, you can stop the net send advertisements. (If you want to.) It is all the same. It is paid advertising that is used to get our attention. It is our choice if we look at it. That is why we have a remote on our tv, and a dial on our radio and a garbage can for our snail mail and a delete key for our email and the little X-box on our pop-up's. If we do not even want this inconvience, then we need to sell our tv's, radio's, and computers and move into the country and start a farm where we will not see these things. Just my thoughts. Have a Happy New Year. |
