Error in Western Media Report about Tibet The reality is cold. If all Austrilian people go back to where their ancestors from, all Canadian people go back to where their ancestors from, all south American European people go back to where their ancestors from, then I will agree to let Tibetan seperate from China. What's Wrong with China? Any comparison between Singarpore and China is naive. If Shanghai is indepent from China, Shanghai could be more prospect than Singarpore. The fact that China survived so many disasters means in the past means a lot. We did have our good days. Now we have not so good days does not mean we should doubt our future. Nothing comes without price. Some people in our country are paying the price for all Chinese. Show some respect to them. |

Fight Between Foreigners and Local I do agree one comment that the government did not treat its own fellow citizens equally as foreigners being treated. Injustice always causes resentment, hate. When I was in China, I need to get approvement to go to Shenzhen, each time. But if you hold HongKong passport, foreign country passport, you can go there freely. I hate for being treated like this. One possible reason why the safeguard hit the car could be that he did not get respect from the driver and the passenger (unfortunately a foreigner), and he got very angry. As a human being, we all have dignity, we all want to be respected. From you description, it seems all those people that support the safeguard share a same common backgroud: they are not repected from the society, from the government. They found a way to vent their resentment to the society by supporting the safeguard. So be understanding, not just judgement. I do not agree with JS's point that those people did not quest wrong or right. Also, I am strongly against the correlation between this event with WWII. JS is kind of an elite now in China. But you need to go to those people's life to understand the feelings of those people. Then you will not make those judgement. I also does not agree the patriotism. There is no patriotism issue here. |

Shanghai Car Plates IS Investment The Shanghai car plate is not an asset. Here's my reason: (a) You pay a "big" amount of money to buy the car plate. Under these condition you can make money out of it: (1) the car plate biding price keep rising, and fast enough to balance inflation; and (2) you decided to sell your car, and not driving again. Otherwise, you get nothing from this payment. Your risk and cost: (1) car plate biding price will not rise all the time, policy change can substantially change the value of it. (2) You lost the opportunity to invest that money into other more secure, higher return assets. (b) Instead, you use part of that money (equal to the amount to acquire a Shanghai plate) to register a car at nearby city, and put the other part of the money into some real investment asset. Let's analysis this option. Real investment asset could be house (assume you can buy a tiny apartment and someone wants to rent it),stock, bond, or simply bank deposit (If you lucky enough to find a "stupid" bank willing to pay you higher interest rate than inflation rate.) If any of these choices yield extra money that can cover inflation, also cover the expenses related to a non-Shanghai plate (not including the compensation for a non-pleasant feeling at HZ for renewing you plate cause it is hard to measure the value of feeling), then you generate a positive cash flow out of your money. That's an asset! |

You are advertising, branding "foreign girls" to those values again. I live in America. Look around, almost all beautiful girls are with rich guys. Go to walmart, you find most employees are ugly looking, go to Costco, employees are better looking; employees of Safeway at a rich district usually are much better looking than those at a poor district. Most girls care about money, care about prestiege, care about what ladder you are at the society,no matter they are foreign or Chinese. Please read about all those marriage books written by the western authors, most time money is a big issue to cause problem between husband and wife. |

I am not a Big Fan of Hate - Part II I visited Museum of Flight at Seattle. Although Chinese people should be very thankful to the flying tigers, one also need to know that those pilots were paid 4 times (or 2 times, I forget the exact number, but way more high) wages higher than that if they stayed at home. They were paid by China government then. As I frankly spoke out in my previous comments, economy (in another word, resource: natural resouce, labor, services) issue is the main reason, most times the only reason for war. Why there are many Chinese girls are with froeign(western) guy than foreign(western) girls with Chinese guys, it is also simple: China as whole was and currently being weak in the development of economy and force, which makes Chinese guy not attractive. It is like branding. The media intentionaly or unintentionaly branded western guys are gentle man, polite, rich, romantic, etc, even in many cases are not true at all. McDonald's Hamburge is not necessarily more tasty or better nutrion than many Chinese dishes, but a Hamburge sells higher price. It's just because McDonald brands it better. However, if McDonald is not from USA, but from some poor country in Africa or eastern Europe, then it would be harder or impossible to get the brand to its current prestige. All these back to this point, China needs to be rich as whole, not just few cities, few people, needs to be strong enough in military (force), needs some real victories in the battle field, then Chinese guy can be branded as those good things, then you will see ...... maybe i even do not need to write these sh*t in English |

Hate is only for weak-mind person. China does not need to start war, but must have the mind to prepare any unavoidable future wars. I am not a Big Fan of Hate... There was no right or wrong during WWII. It is basically a survival game by human being in a large scale. Unfortunately China that time was in the weak side. Jews also was in the weak side. All wars are based on the control of resource, which supports certain group of people to survive, or maintain certain kind of living standard. Remember that labor is resource, too. Nation is a big group of people. British and French and their decendants occupied vast land of the earth comparing to the size of their population, then ban other poeple to go to those "new" land. It is very natural for other group of people to fight their "right" or "share", specificlly the German. Japan had the right to fight their "share", too, but took the wrong target to China, because China's share of the world land is not that big with the size of the population. As today's Chinese people, or India people, still count in Japan, it is natural to have the think of "fight for the proper share of the earth". Please do not be surprised. |
