Hangzhou to Shanghai D Train Schedule hi, i need help here .i am from malaysia .i am planning a trip to China this April. I am planning to visit HangZhou, ShangHai , Nangking && SuZhou. I will need to start from SuZhou cause having a meeting there. Mac Cannot Access Internet in China Hey, I had a friend from CA who had a Macbook, and last year her myself and one other friend decided to get ADSL in our dorms in Fuzhou. (She was using mac i was using Ubuntu and he was using XP). XP - no problem - we all know chinese loooove FAKE windows. Ubuntu - Ok after i changed some of the settings. Mac however... The guy played and played with it, she even changed the machine into chinese for him, and he still didnt do it.. she went next door to get something and when she came back she found he had put a XP install disk into the computer and was rebooting to install windows. She went mad called him a fucking idiot, demanded her 700Y back and threw his bag out, she then added that this computer alone was more than his yearly salary. Now im back with a macbook and im hoping i dont have the same problem. There seems to be lots of people using Macbooks in Xiamen and they connect with no problems but most use a router or a wifi set up. So my suggestion.. Get a router let the router do the work - you might even get one from the telecom office if you ask, i got mine for 60Y - 59Y cheaper. Anyway sorry i cant be much of any help to anyone but i think this story is funny. Sam |

Using Contact Lenses i still have no idea how to put them in but i do know a gooood way to take them out! ok so you go to the edge of the contact and pull it to the side away from ur nose. then it might feel a little funny at first but it will get better. then once it stays at the side it will fold a little and the u can pinch it out with ease! |

Real Ice in Shanghai Metro This is genious! They should do that in Montreal. Even in the winter, the the train cars are to hot. So the subway in Shaighai belongs to a private company? Ironic, in Canada they belong to the cities they are in. How does the subway generate a profit? That would be unthinkable here. By the way, for futur reference, the term is train "car', not "cart". |

How to Read Shanghai Bus Stop Plate Great explanation, thanks to all contributors. Chinese buses are great, it never occurred to me that the signs were that full of information, I just look for the place I want to go to on the signs, hop on and hope for the best. If I make a mistake hop off and try again on another route, most of the time I get close enough to walk at first attempt anyway. Sad to say I rarely take buses in Shanghai these days, underground goes to most of the places I take public transport, but it is always an eye opener and honour when I do. |

Using Contact Lenses *mumble mumble* I went to the optitions today to see about contacts, and the optition bloke tryed putting them in and my eye just auto shut, so i asked him to see if i could try and he said no, ill re book you an appointment again to see a girl downstairs. But what the hell, it was as if he didnt want me to try, what an ass hole. So i have to travel for like 30mins again to the optitions and try putting them in myself, what a big waste of time today was! |

WHO Reports Shanghai Findings Is the fine for spitting really in force? I have not seen any improvement with regards to that here in Shanghai. Only the other day my taxi driver spat at least 3 times out of the window. My b-friend tryed to tell him to stop, but the taxi driver did not understand what he was trying to imply. How can a country that believes 'better out then in' suddenly change its habits overnight? Personally, I think it will take years. |
