10 China's Low-Cost Spring Airlines

We flew Spring/Autum Airlines from Shanghai to Nanchang in June.

All but a few of us were on its tour to Yunan.

Overall its service was good.

7 Complicated Paying Process

My guess is that the process comes from distrust of empoyees handling cash and goods at the same time by the employer. Since the labor cost is not a factor, it's cheaper to hire separate people than losing money due to petty theft.

However, it still does not make any sense even the assumption is true.

Does it often occur to small vendors? I had similar experience in small vendors or state-owned business, but did notice that some nicer restaurants handled the transaction the same way as I would expect in US.

6 Black Day for Shanghai Stock Market

It's approaching the long term support above 1000. If you have not invested any in the stock market, maybe it's time to buy some. Usually when everyone is giving up, it's the time to buy them:-)

3 Group Drive to Yang Cheng Lake

The major changes I noticed were the new highways around the whole country built in the 90s and still being built now. It's very much like the US building the interstate highways during Ike's era.

1 SARS is Over in Shanghai - II

Is SARS really over in Shanghai? We canceled our trip to Beijing/Shanghai in May and are looking to see the possibility to make the trip in July (dropping Beijing as destination).
