Rent an Apartment in Shanghai Greetings, I am from North America. I've been working in Seoul and Tokyo for many years. Hence, I am generally knowledgeble about Asian customs. Furthermore, I have recently traveled to China a couple times for 10 to 14 day vacations in Beijing and Shanghai. This has added somewhat to a still-growing grasp of Chinese culture. At this time, it is my good fortune to be the recipient of a job offer in Shanghai. The work begins in mid-September and lasts at least a few months thereafter. Hence, I am currently seeking housing commensurate to this time frame. I can offer 1000 to 2000 Chinese Yuan per month for rent and utilities. I am not really interested in any secondary add-ons or additions to my living quarters as I will rarely be at home. The reason is I must work at least six days a week and will commute to distant locations in and around Shanghai on a daily basis (so -- I want to try to limit the focus to just rent & utlities costs!). I don't really need internet access, cable TV, ect. I have lived in Asia such a long time and I really find such types of entertainment mediums to be troublesome, unreliable, and just a plain repetative bore for the most part (I guess I'll just have to settle for having my own life). Furthermore, I don't necessarily require a fully furnished apartment. I can ship some items to Shanghai, if necessary. Thanks for your time. lostntranslated@yahoo.com (86)10-3148-5028 |

Where to Study Chinese, Beijing or Shanghai? Hi Netaly, I am also looking for a good interpretation and translation program. I called the SH International studies college, not very helpful. Their program is a 2-yr course, you can find some on their website www.shisu.edu.cn THe other short term course offered is a 2-mth business interpretation course starting 20th Nov. Its Sat full day.. and the lady who answered my question was discouraging me from attending! She said it would be inconvenient for me to spend my saturdays studying. I am so disappointed, many of the colleges here dont seem to offer a variety of short to mid-term translation courses. cheers elsie |
