5 What's Wrong with China?

Hello Wangjianshuo,
Compared to many countries there is little that is wrong with China. Many westerners given the opportunity would prefer to live in China if they knew what it is like. There is nothing wrong with a one party electoral system but it does need to be democratic from the lowest levels up. For anyone who thinks that the US is a desireable model they should read a book available at this site.

4 "The Right to Refuse Service to Anyone"

Nick has it about right...in the US there is SO MUCH FREEDOM that unless an owner posts such a sign anybody can walk in their establishment and disrupt the business, the other customers, etc and then if the owner tries to do anything it is the owner who will be sued by this bad actor...maybe in China the owner can yell and scream at the guy or call the police and have him hauled away, but in the US the police would come and say "he's not breaking any laws, there is nothing we can do" Freedom is a difficult challenge!

3 46A is the Best Seat on Boeing 747

I am not a premiere exec this year, so I cannot reserve exit row seats. My choice has always been 32D/G if I cannot get row46. The middle section is better just like the other person stated. More likely you are only blocking one person. Also the way the bulk head is configured you actually have ample leg room in the middle setion of this row. The A-C and H-J seats have less leg room. Being the first row in the eco class, it gives u some of the C class feeling, at least when noise and air quality is concerned.

2 You'v Got (Registered) Mail!

Even though, China is the most service oriented country in this world.

If you are not satisified with any service, at least , in shanghai , you can always complain. In shanghai , customer is god, in U.S. customer is dog. you have to beg for their service. If you want to complain, you have to talk to vocie machine over phone, or push 20 times of your phone keys first , then , there will be some human talking to you. Before you could complain , you felt like throwing shoes on the person's face who is on the other side over phone. Or you call would be directly connected to somewhere in India, you have to tell someone living in india about your complaints in U.S.

Otherwise, most western countries dont run their post serivce on Sunday. Weekday, long long queue makes you feel hopeless
Or , in most areas of North Amercia, trasportation is a problem, if you dont own personal vehicles.
More than that, look at night life of shanghainese, you can find out all kinds of activities after 12pm as long as you can think.

Shanghai is the most convenient city is this world, in terms of life style, trasporation, food, fun, everything.

1 Picture in Shanghai

'successful' locals are those who have no idea what changes mean;
'successful' locals are those who only know how to work hard but not work smart;
'successful' locals are those who like to show off their broken English whenever possible;
'successful' locals are those who have no sense of humor and are extremely defensive.
'successful' locals are boring people, period.
