Where to Buy Genuine Software in Shanghai? The original post sounds like some goon that is trying to get people to buy fake crap. The bootom line is that one can't get genuine software titles in China, particularly the expensive ones. One has to order them from abroad... Also, the nitwit that said that in the US people can't afford real software is dung. The vast majority use the real thing, especially system software. Anyhow, I'm off to Hong Kong -- hardly a part of China, really, except for some political technicalities -- to buy some badly needed genuine software titles that after seven years in the PRC, I simply can't find: Wndows XP Professional Edition Full, Office XP Home Full and Vista Ultimate Full. Basic things... Pitiful... Lastly, I don't recommend that anyone orders a title from a Chinese company, as the software may well be a fake anyway. |

Slow Internet Connection at Home I'm living in China. Formerly using Cable network, it was quite slow. I changed to ADSL 2Mb from CNC and it was ok for download but slow for surfing the net. Now I'm using China Telecom's ADSL 1Mb (why would you need to buy a 2Mb when the result is the same with 1Mb) and it's still slow, even slower when surfing the net. There's no solution. It takes up to 30s/1min to load a page outside china. I learnt to be patient |
