7 What's Wrong with China?

The Communist must give way to the other part as far as Authority is regarded. I hope in the future, China, like the US, will be run in a way with election of government from all parties, not only Communist. This party has been greatly corrupted. Everything is in change, so why no change to this government?

6 The Age of Change, in Reality, and in Mind

The salary in Amoy is always like this>>>>>>>>>>>>>>_____the horizontal level-line, but the price for everything is on the hike. It is unbelieveable as what you described how much people make in Shanghai..Even the director of my dept. , Dv Cordero told us that in California, or in the whole US, the salary for our general citizen is always level down these years.

4 Chinese Characters

Chinese characters mostly look like Japanese---many people say that Japanese characters are those from the antient Chinese book, maybe it's true.

See the examples:

雑誌 飯 車 靴 電気 頭 太陽 鏡 熱い。。。。。。。。。。

but it's interesting to learn that grammatic rules are almost the same in Chinese, English and Japanese. and I find that Chinese is much closer to English in Grammer.

See examples:
a. Chinese: 我 是 蕾拉。
English I am Layla.
Japanese: 私 は レィラ (です)。

b. Chinese: 我 在 读 书。
English: I am reading a book.
Japanese: 私 は 本 を 読んでいます。(seems Japanese is much more complicated than the others.)

I am going to write a book on these three languages.

3 I Love Shanghai!

I av visited this blog from time to time, it's a good thing to learn something different in the other city. I live in Amoy(xiamen, China). It's a really nice place to live in and every one behaves in a way that we are like a family. if you ever take a bus, you will see many people smile to you, and they give you their seats when there are senior or pregnant ones in sight. Though sometimes you feel so low due to some other reason, you have no reason to attribute the bad things to a city, it's just personal feeling. I had been in SH for 1 month in the past year, it's a crowed city with famulous speed in daily life. It's just my characterism that I don't like the city, but it's a developped city in PRC, you have reason to believe that it's a city with it's charm in some way.

1 Life in New York is Tough for Me

I live in Minneapolis, Minnesota USA. I have been reading your weblog for almost one year now and I really enjoy it. Your comments and observations about your recent visit to US have been very interesting to me. I have visited your lovely city Shanghai several times and always enjoy being there.

My company has invited a business associate to visit us in Minneapolis for two weeks.
He is from Shanghai and is also 27 years old like yourself. I do not think he has ever visited any other place except maybe Hong Kong. I was wondering if you can offer any advice for my visitor. He does not need to worry about hotel or transportation because my company will take care of everything. But do you have any general advice for someone who will visit US for first time? What personal items should he be sure to bring? I understand you must be very busy after your long trip and I appreciate your kind consideration to my inquiry.

I would like to wish you and Wendy a very happy New Year!

Best regards,
Layla
