7 China Eastern Airlines

Whoa, this entry is old. I hope someone can still help me - I'm trying to figure out domestic weight limits and I keep getting conflicting answers. I'm hauling a ton of stuff from Shanghai to Hong Kong. I know the weight limit is 20kg for econ. seats. Is that (2) 20kg checked bags? Or just one? How strict are they with the weight limit. What if I'm 2-3 kg over. Some people have been telling the charge is as high as $100 per bag while others say only 200 renminbi. Please help! Thanks in advance. . .

4 Rent an Apartment in Shanghai

Hi All:
I am a Malaysian & will be relocating in Shanghai in April, and I'll looking for a 1 bedrooms apartment which is fully furnished in good condition, with broadband access, safe, nearby amenities & subway station. The company I will work with is located along Huai Hai Zhong Lu. So, I probably prefer to stay nearby that area.

My rental budget is around RMB 3000 to 3500.

If you've got any information, please e-mail me. TQ!

3 House of Flying Daggers (or Shi Mian Mai Fu)

I was in Shanghai last week and I heard that when House of Flying Daggers came out into the movies, it was the only new movie that came out for that week. So if you wanted to see a movie, that was your only option.

2 Odds and Ends of Today

Hi WJS, this is ComSpec May ;) I just wanted to share with you that when my husband (u know who)and I moved to Hong Kong wen did our shopping for furniture in Ikea as it was the easiest way to get all our furniture at one time. I tried to go to other places and look for stuff but it just wasn't worth it. The bed we bought is a queen size bed. After sleeping on it one night we figured out that it's too short for my husband (he's not that tall for a Western guy but is definately taller than most Chinese guys)and then we noticed it said "Asian Queen Size" on the side of the bed. So I guess their beds are smaller in Asia :)

1 Traffic Rules in Shanghai

Take Hong Kong for example. I am pretty sure the city density is very much like Shanghai's but people don't try to cross the road every chance they get. They abide by their traffic rules and no one gets hurt. The drivers are at ease, they know they will most likely not pump into someone and the people are safe waiting for their turn to walk.

I feel bad for the Shanghai drivers as they are continously worried if someone will pop up infront of them on a bicycle or running. The driver has to hit his/her break every 5 seconds hence we have traffic jam.
