Stock Market Big Drop We are obviously going through some very troubling economic times starting with 1) the sub-prime mortgage debacle 2) extradordinary high gasoline and fuel prices 3) a housing market which has in many respects collapsed 4) diminished consumer confidence and the list goes on. |
| 226 |
Gas Price and Plastic Bags $2.00 a gallon gasoline is a super bargain. Roundabouts at intersections are the way to go. They are environmentally friendly and help save on gas since motorists don't have to stop at roundabouts. Carmel, Indiana has 'roundabouts' at many of its intersections. |
| 225 |
All Kinds of Trap Don't they have a 'DO NOT CALL' law in China so individuals can put their phone number(s) on a DO NOT CALL list and can avoid being harassed by telemarketers? There are some serious penalties here if a telemarketer phones someone who is registered on a DO NOT CALL LIST. |

I Hope We can Start to Talk about History that event shown on TV worldwide created burning images in my mind which I can't shake. |

Leave Home Early to Avoid Traffic Jam Expect the traffic in and around Shanghai to get much worse as car ownership becomes more prevalent. |

More Accidents in 2008 That is horrible and reminds me of the bus explosions in London a few summers back. |
| 221 |
More Accidents in 2008 That is horrible and reminds me of the bus explosions in London a few years ago. The latter was definitely deliberate and terrorism. |

Slow Internet Connection in Early May why are so many sites blocked in China? I would think that that would only make many Chinese even more curious to know what the sites contain. In the true spirit of the Olympics, let the blocking stop. |
| 219 |
Photos of Carrefour after Boycott Holy smokin' catfish!!!! where did all the customers go? I think that Sarko should just say he's very sorry for what happened to the Olympic torch bearer in Paris a couple of weeks ago. |
| 218 |
Friends Started to Boycott French Products We don't need more boycotts but more open, honest and frank dialogue to try to iron out differences and to resolve any misunderstandings. |
| 217 |
More Discussion on Tibet Just think about all the thousands of people who waited for hours in San Francisco just for the opportunity to see and even take photos of the Olympic torch but they were denied that opportunity because the route was suddenly changed for security purposes? I can assure you that those people were bitterly disappointed and would not consider it a success. That would be like me buying a ticket to an Indianapolis Colts--New England Patriots football game and going to the stadium to watch it. I would wait hours in my seat but no one appeared. Then I would find out that the teams played a brief game somewhere else. That would be disappointment plus. :>(((((( |
| 216 |
More Discussion on Tibet what happened in San Francisco today says a lot about what is going on. Frankly, I think the more the torch is carried, the more violent the protests will become. I say defuse the situation and stop the running of the torch! |
| 215 |
More Discussion on Tibet the Summer Olympic games in Beijing are off to a very bad start with all the demonstrations and protests in places like London and Paris. Demonstrators/protesters reportedly extinguished the torch as it was being carried in Paris. Today the torch is in San Francisco and we'll have to wait and see what happens there today. One torch runner apparently dropped out and said he doesn't want to carry the torch out of security concerns--he's afraid he will be attacked by 'Free Tibet' protesters. Maybe I should volunteer to carry the torch. |
| 214 |
More Discussion on Tibet All of the demonstrations and protests in places like Paris and London detract from the traditional spirit of the Summer Olympics. They reportedly even extinguished the torch in Paris. Let's see what happens in San Francisco today. |
| 213 |
Why I Didn't Cover About Tibet I believe that the Summer Olympics are being ruined by all these protests and demonstrations. |
| 212 |
Taiwan Election - Ma Wins after what has been going on with Tibet, I'll pass on commenting about Taiwan. |

Are American Economically Family-Independent I am not sure that I follow. One thing is clear in the United States and that is that it usually takes a lot of money to go to many colleges/universities, not just to Harvard. An individual student normally needs a lot of financial help from his parents ('family'). As for health care and health insurance in the US, the cost of it has become prohibitive for millions of working Americans. |

I Fixed My Sony P8 Battery I am going to wrap all my dead batteries in newspaper, put them in plastic bags and freeze them. If freezing doesn't work, then I will use the oven. |

The Most Severe Disaster I Experienced instant noodles rising from 1-3 RMB to 80 RMB in price? What a gouge!! sounds like profiteers are busy in the snow and ice. |
| 208 |
The Most Severe Disaster I Experienced that poor mother and her young infant child stuck on the highway for 7 days. Their hardship is almost too large for me to even half way comprehend. |

Shanghai Snows Again Jian Shuo Looking over the pics of the snow in Shanghai impresses me more as a 'light dusting'. |
| 206 |
Snowing in SJTU (with Kijiji Logo) Thanks for posting those Shanghai snow scene pics. |
| 205 |
Crazy New Year a friend sent me one pic of the snow in Shanghai today and it only appeared to be a couple of inches on the ground. the street looked freshly plowed and was clear. |
| 204 |
Crazy New Year Any pics showing the snow in the streets of Shanghai? |
| 203 |
Crazy New Year Jian Shuo Can you please post some pics of the snow in the streets of Shanghai? |
| 202 |
Labor Day (May Holiday) Canceled that is terrible news but probably an effective way to help stave off any recession. |
| 201 |
Backed Up All My Documents Jian Shuo That seems like a lot of unnecessary work to me. Does your hard drive and operating system get badly corrupted after 2 months of internet use? If so, I believe you should check into a good spyware and malware cleaner such as Spyware Doctor to help keep your system running smoothly. |

0# Gas Shortage in Shanghai Jian Shuo How were you able to drive your little car around all those big trucks to get to the head of the line at that gas station? You could have started a riot at that gasoline station. |
| 195 |
Wendy's Wallet was Stolen sorry to hear that. I see guys carrying their wallet in their hip pocket without even buttoning it closed. If I were a pick pocket, it would be easy for me to stick my fingers in their open pocket and grab their wallet. |
| 194 |
Some Thoughts about War and History I believe the French under the French Vichy government also collaborated with the Japanese in French Indo-China back in WW II. I can understand why a lot of the Vietnamese wanted the French out of Vietnam at the close of WW II. However the French refused to leave. |
| 193 |
Some Thoughts about War and History For many years the French also did not acknowledge or admit their collaboration with the Nazis during WW II and their participation in the arrest of many Jews who were sent to Nazi death camps. |
| 192 |
Some Thoughts about War and History why carry a grudge for so many years? it is time to put that in the past and try to keep it there. Most don't carry a grudge against the Germans for all the atrocities committed by the Nazis under Hitler during WW II. |
| 191 |
What's Wrong with China? Always strive for improvement and how to make things better. Henry Ford once said "Don't find a fault but find a remedy." The Chinese would do well to follow this advice. |
| 190 |
That is Easy - Easy Solution to Complicated Problems it seems to me that the government in China is coming up with all these quick easy fixes because it doesn't believe the people are able to do so on their own. When a government doesn't give its people a say-so in these matters, then it would logically follow that the people do not grow in responsibility. what's the best fix for too many people? birth control, condoms, sex education and family planning classes air security and traffic control? better pilot training and higher standards to obtain a private pilot's license to fly. too much air pollution created by cars? adopt and strictly enforce better emissions controls on all motor vehicles. group renting? if people really love one another, let them live together in peace and happiness even though they are not married (yet). house prices too high? allow the market to dictate what the prices should be. Dogs? Responsible pet owners should be encouraged and they should be fined if they allow their dog to roam at large and go poo on someone else's property. |
| 189 |
That is Easy - Easy Solution to Complicated Problems I believe it is must easier for the government in China to address various problems because it can act with lightning fast speed to do so. If you can't live together without being married, can you share the same hotel room for a week or several days? |
| 188 |
Yifan is 3 Months Old Wow!!! It's amazing how fast babies grow. Maybe they grow faster and become more curious when they are fed mother's milk instead of 'junk' out of a can. |

Avoid Blog Blocked in China Jian Shuo When the police call you about 'objectional' content on your Blog, do they politely ask you to remove it or do they scream at you? |
| 186 |
Shanghai is Hot, Hot and Hot! it's nice and cold at night in Sichuan..freeze during the night and bake in the heat during the day. at least Shanghai stays hot 24/7 during the summer. need air conditioning--the best solution to stay comfortable. :>) |

Controversy Car Plates that's an interesting piece of history. I don't bother asking for a personalized car plate and, if I did, I certainly wouldn't request 'SEX SHREK'. |

Business is Really Business a good businessman always has to see the bigger picture and not just focus in on some technical details. |
| 182 |
Accident in Shanghai Metro Yep, the Shanghai Metro Company will blame that passenger by saying he had drugs and was high on dope. They may also say he had a condom on his person and didn't have his mind on safely entering the Metro. Thinking about other things can get a person killed. |
| 181 |
Software for Newly Installed PC Jian Shuo that's a very good way to maintain a fast drive C by clearing all the Windows junk out of it every few months. Windows indeed creates a lot of *junk*. |
| 180 |
Real Estate Price Keeps Crazy Now that's what I call a crazy real estate bubble. Many cities in the US had experienced similar bubbles and then they all burst within the past year or so. Now Sellers are begging to find Buyers in many areas. Are banks and lenders mainly doing a lot of Adjustable Rate Mortage loans (ARMs) in Shanghai which allow the mortgage lender to adjust/change the Borrower's interest rate after 3 to 5 years? |
| 179 |
The Name of Chinese People XGE and Jian Shuo, thanks for that info. Very helpful and enlightening. where would one start to research the family tree of a deceased person who lived in Yunnan Province back in the early 1900's without knowing the name of the village that person is from? If that deceased person's family is pretty much gone or dispersed, how would one go about putting together even a rough family tree? |
| 178 |
The Name of Chinese People Jian Shuo That is extremely interesting. How difficult is it for a person in China to research his or her family tree, especially in a more rural province such as Yunnan? |
| 177 |
Nanpu Bridge was Closed Shortly The government has its way no matter what people think. the pace of development in places like Shanghai would only be retarded if democracy took over. |
| 176 |
Chinese Characters Jian Shuo, that was a great explanation. Thanks. Please keep teaching more about the Chinese language. |
| 175 |
Yifan has Hukou Today what is the basic guaranteed benefit an individual holding a Hukou card is entitled to? are Hukous also issued in rural provinces? |
| 174 |
Yifan has Hukou Today how long has the Hukou system of required personal registration been around? |
| 173 |
Where to Buy Genuine Software in Shanghai? if the ratio of pirated versus genuine software vendors is 100 to 1 in Shanghai, I assume that very few people in Shanghai want the genuine or real thing. About the only way to change the market will be to make the genuine software much cheaper or the pirated stuff much more expensive. |
| 172 |
Pictures of my Newly-Born Baby he looks like he's going to become a world class tennis player. |
| 171 |
My Baby Arrives Jian Shuo Wow, that's fantastic news. Congratulations on the arrival of your baby boy. :>)) |
| 170 |
Take Taxi or Buy a Car? Jian Shuo what about the cost of automobile insurance in Shanghai? you didn't mention it. is automobile liability insurance mandatory? |
| 169 |
Chinese Stock Market is More Crazy overall the stock market is more akin to a giant and long roller coaster ride. It's easy going 'up' but it can be a wild and scary ride going down and then hitting a sharp curve and almost being thrown from one's seat. I am also invested in stocks and enjoying the long ride 'up'. a little voice tells me when to end the ride. |
| 168 |
Chinese Stock Market is More Crazy whatever goes 'up' eventually comes down. the stock bubble will ultimately burst and when it does many people will lose a lot of money, including all their savings. that is the downside of a massive bubble. |
| 167 |
Shanghai not as Safe as Before maybe all the poorer people are feeling more frustrated by seeing all the new wealth around them and they can't resist taking some..by force, if neccessary. maybe the trick to staying safe is don't show your wealth or affluence but just dress poor and look dirty. You will be safe that way because no one will want to attack and rob you. |
| 166 |

Peach Flower in Nanhui District Very pretty flowers. Spring has arrived in Shanghai. |

Mac Cannot Access Internet in China that is indeed weird and something I never could have figured out myself. by using that open DNS, is a person's Mac more susceptible to a hacker attack? |
| 159 |
Serious Ill caused by Serious Mistake China needs a Patients' Bill of Rights and pronto. There also needs to be internet dissemination of information about good and bad health care providers. You in essence need an Angie's List of Good Doctors and Hospitals. |
| 158 |
I Found a Bug - in my Soup If I found a bug in the soup I was eating, I would probably become violently ill, start vomiting, collapse, and have an ambulance called to take me to the hospital. I would ask the doctor to pump my stomach and purge my system of all traces of the *bug soup.* after getting needed medical treatment, then I would make an appointment with a psychiatrist or psychologist for counseling...yes, counseling because I would probably have a hatred for all soup and possibly even food. then I would find the best possible personal injury lawyer I could to represent me in my case against the restaurant which served me bug soup. |

Shanghainese Girl Marrying Foreigners calling Westerners 'foreigners' makes me feel like an unwelcome outsider. |

Happy Birthday to Goudaner (3rd Year) Dancingdots what if an alligator ran out in front of your little BMW Z3 while you were going 125 MPH on Alligator Alley in South Florida? |
| 155 |
Everyone is Talking about Stock In the US today people are also discussing the stock markets and various factors which are driving stock prices downward. Continuing bad news in the subprime mortgage industry with several subprime mortgage lenders going broke. it is very risky business to lend money to people with poor credit. I expect mortgage lending standards to get much higher and a continuing softening of the housing market. |
| 154 |
How to Advertise on this Blog? Jian Shuo, keep up the fine work and your wall of defense to that needless garbage. your Blog is nice because it's not all *commercialized* with a bunch of electronic hawkers marketing goods and services. |
| 153 |
10 RMB for Genuine DVD ooops! typo. I meant 'affordable first class entertainment.' |
| 152 |
10 RMB for Genuine DVD Wow!!! that's what I call really affordable first class entertainer. They should throw in a free bag of popcorn with every DVD movie sale. |
| 151 |
From the Hottest to the Coldest Jian Shuo after being in all those *hot* places, your body's internal thermometer is still trying to tell you things are warm even though Beijing is significantly colder. |
| 150 |
Two Year Ends Hey genius back at you. does what you say mean that approximately 20+ Chinese Muslims in mainland China also celebrated the Year of the Pig? |
| 149 |
Two Year Ends why do the Chinese celebrate two New Years? they celebrate the calendar New Year just like most other people in the world and then they also celebrate the Chinese lunar New Year. Isn't one New Year celebration enough just like one birthday celebration? also Chinese who live in some other countries such as in Indonesia and Malaysia have a hard time celebrating the Chinese New Year there because this one is called the *Year of the Pig*. Muslims in Indonesia and Malaysia can't stand the pig and don't eat pig either. |
| 148 |
Two Year Ends a Big Happy New Year to all my friends. |
| 147 |
It is Approaching to the Year End Happy New Year!!! will very many people still work during the New Year week long holiday period? how many stores will stay open? |
| 146 |
Should I Drive in Shanghai? ooops!! there was a typo in my last sentence and I meant to say 'experienced' driver. |
| 145 |
Should I Drive in Shanghai? Jian Shuo You make driving a car in and outside Shanghai sound pretty hazardous and crazy. I am sure that a novice driver would find big city traffic to be pretty terrifying and difficult to handle. However, I am relatively sure that an inexperienced driver probably wouldn't view it the same way. |
| 144 |
DVD and Movie That is a great deal to be able to buy a DVD movie for only $2. Over here it costs around $8 for a ticket at a movie theater and I am sure many would buy the DVD for only $2, if it were available. We have to wait about 3 to 4 months for DVD's to become released. I read that China is becoming the new Hollywood. |
| 142 |
A Stolen Bicycle are you saying that there are many bike thieves in Shanghai? I assume they steal other things besides bicycles. |
| 141 |
Where are the Train Tickets? lawer how do you separate judges from an *untrustworthy* system? I would think an honorable, upright, principled and righteous person wouldn't want to be a judge in that kind of sewer committee system. where are the protests for change and independence? |
| 140 |
The Scar in People's Heart jqian so people only have a 70 year 'leasehold' in China? what if a person lives until he or she is 86 years old, where does that person live his final 16 years? |
| 139 |
Where are the Train Tickets? a legal system must be adequate to address grievances of its citizenry. where a wrong is widespread and great, the remedy must be strong and effective to correct it. are most judges trustworthy there and individuals of honorable character? OR, are they just like the Yellow Cow ticket rip-off agents? |
| 138 |
The Scar in People's Heart sounds more like the Great Leap into Hell. Bet Mao wasn't chasing after bird droppings or serving them to his family. it always seems like the most vulnerable people suffer the most and pay the dearest price. |
| 137 |
Where are the Train Tickets? Jian Shuo, is there such a thing as a 'class action' lawsuit in China where one representative plaintiff files a lawsuit seeking monetary damages upon behalf of a bunch of consumers similarly situated or ripped off? Maybe Wendy can be one of the first filing a major class action against the railway system seeking recovery of all damages from the railway and their Yellow Cow agents (co-conspirators in the ticket scam). |
| 136 |
Where are the Train Tickets? I would think that people would get fed up with all the rip offs and start protesting. after all, the train is a public transport system and not private. |
| 135 |
Where are the Train Tickets? common ordinary people being ripped off. why is corruption so widespread there? |
| 134 |
The Scar in People's Heart that is a very powerful and deep hitting story. I can't imagine being so desperate for food that I would wait for a bird to fly over and leave me something to eat. No, I can't even relate to that. |
| 133 |
Chinese Stock Market is Crazy I just wonder if Western investors will be chilled somewhat to continue to invest heavily there after China fired that killer satellite missile on January 11. |
| 132 |
Chinese Stock Market is Crazy thanks Jian Shuo for your informative post. could a huge artificial bubble be forming in the stock market there which may collapse overnight? most people I know who have ventured into the stock markets have become like addicted gamblers. when they get ahead, they never quit but keep going expecting to make even more money. eventually they lose it all and then regret that they didn't quit when they should have. yes, it's an addiction. |

New Year Photo by ERIC article about Gangfeng in The Walrus magazine December 2006: A Resonant Boom How Shanghai’s citizens view their city’s seemingly unending growth by Charles Foran -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Wang Gangfeng is a happy man. He tells me as much one afternoon in Shanghai. The photographer sits in his studio in the city’s west end. The studio occupies an upperfloor corner that in its day may have housed a dozen families in the forced intimacy for which China, and especially Shanghai, remains notorious. Now Wang, a boyish fifty-year-old attired in all black, including leather pants and boots, has the space to himself. Appropriately, he is equally the self-styled “first freelance photographer in China” and proprietor of the “Gang of One,” a business name drawn from a pun on the infamous Gang of Four clique that terrorized China in the 1970s. His walls are as crowded as any city block. Though Wang earns his living doing commercial work, his art lies in portrait photography that shirks neither Shanghai grit nor rural backwardness. Images include elderly ladies in alleyways and bicyclists pushing impossible loads. His lens is intimate, and with even the most impersonal shots, including a well-known photo of a solitary biker parting a sea of fellow travellers heading in the opposite direction, the eye is drawn to the often serene expressions worn by those going about their arduous business. http://www.walrusmagazine.com/u/register/?ref=urban-affairs-a-resonant-boom |
| 127 |
New Year Photo by ERIC Wang Gangfeng is No. 1. I read an article about him published this month in a magazine. |
| 126 |
New Year Photo by ERIC I thought that Gangfeng is Shanghai's most famous photographer--'world class'. |
| 125 |
New Year Photo by ERIC I have indeed lost almost all of China no one replies, no one sends or receives email. they are all silent...they are GONE. the electronic net world has crashed. |
| 124 |
New Year Photo by ERIC well, let's hope and pray for a speedy cable recovery. |
| 123 |
New Year Photo by ERIC what is the status on Hotmail and Yahoo mail in China..still inaccessible for the most part? please provide an update. |
| 122 |
New Year Photo by ERIC Jian Shuo You're looking good at the start of 2007. is the internet situation in China improving or are millions still unable to access sites outside of China? |
| 121 |
Friend's Dog Killed that's terrible. a good dog is truly man's best friend and should never be killed. |
| 120 |
Wangjianshuo.com Inaccessible it's not just an earthquake problem. they also need to keep the sharks away from chewing on the fiber optic cable. inject shark repellant into the cable. |
| 119 |
Wangjianshuo.com Inaccessible Jian Shuo, there is obviously a big problem still going on. Several of my emails to individuals in China were returned as 'undeliverable'. |
| 118 |
OOB for Saturday Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Ho Ho Ho! |
| 117 |
Is Beijing Ready? I don't like *grumpy* taxi cab drivers and would ask him to stop the cab and let me out if he complained too much. my limo driver Geno never complains and is always happy with the money he receives. |
| 116 |
Is Beijing Ready? there must be a safe and effective way to make a Beijing taxi driver happy. |
| 115 |
Shanghai Looks Similar to US, But... Jian Shuo doesn't the government there have to buy property owners the fair market value of their property which is taken by the government for a public purpose such as the construction of a highway? if the government offers what the property owner believes is too little of an amount of money, can the property owner go to court to seek a larger sum of money? that's how it works in the US. |
| 114 |
Hello from Narita Airport, Tokyo I had a 3 hour layover recently but at the Baltimore airport. Used my Sprint wireless card to send some emails and then I walked the concourse to Charlie Chiang's restaurant to have some Kung Pao chicken on rice. |
| 113 |
The Blind Men and The Elephant Great article Jian Shuo!! it is so true that many people tend to see the rest of the world from where they are nestled in and bound up by their pre-conceived ideas or notions. |
| 112 |
Shanghai is Coooold I believe that America is such a huge melting pot of different people and races that saying 'I am proud to be Chinese' doesn't fit over here. |
| 111 |
OOB to Take a Pause Jian Shuo sorry to hear that you're not feeling well and wish you a speedy recovery. |
| 110 |
Shanghai is Coooold I don't get these "I'm proud to be Chinese" chauvinistic statements. if I started posting "I am proud to be an American" statements, I am sure that others would find it offensive. by the way, I am proud and happy to be an American. |

Sound Bytes of These Days many kids learn to drive on farms or on private acreage. driving around on a farm is a little bumpy but not a bad place to get a feel for learning how to drive a motor vehicle. |

Three Services I don't Use in China I don't like voice mail because I feel like I am talking to a robot. |
| 107 |
My Lifeline on the Little Plastic Card no problem with some typos because I can still understand your article. one time I lost all my cash while in New York City when someone cleaned out my wallet and I only had an American Express credit card left. I needed to get from my hotel back to the airport, so I called a limousine service using my credit card. Leaving the hotel with only a credit card was the most awkward part because I had to fight off the bell boys who wanted to carry my luggage and earn a cash tip for doing so. |
| 106 |
I am not a Big Fan of Hate... we should not *hate* the Japanese of today based on the Japanese of a half century ago anymore than we should hate the Germans. |
| 105 |
I am not a Big Fan of Hate... as Rodney King once said: "Hey people, we all need to get along. Put away the clubs and let's just talk." |
| 104 |
I am not a Big Fan of Hate... I agree that politicians in their statements oftentimes generate feelings of ill-will toward another country and its people. Once a prejudice is sown, it is hard to undo the damage. |
| 103 |
Cash on Delivery Still Preferred why is there such a distrust of credit cards in China? credit cards are widely accepted in Europe and other countries. |
| 102 |
Must See - Coffee Facing the Bund The last time I was there looking at the Bund, two guys with dog hides mugged me and took all my money. :>((( |

2006 Asian Gaelic Games in Shanghai the use of the 'hands' and passing the ball with the hand sounds more like American football. |

Drive on the Left in Australia Jian Shuo I respect the laws, including rules of the road, in all countries I visit but that in no way implies that I believe they are wise or prudent. If you enjoy driving on the left, that's fine. |
| 98 |
Drive on the Right in China I am glad that China switched to 'drive on the right'. do they manufacture any Chinese cars today with steering wheels on the right side of the car? |
| 97 |
Drive on the Left in Australia it seems silly to me that Australia wants to stick with driving on the left when most of the world drives on the right. |
| 96 |
Guide for Bike Riders in Shanghai it sounds very chaotic. I like to ride a bike down the street facing oncoming traffic so I can see what is coming. I don't like riding on the side in the direction traffic is flowing because I am unable to see what is coming up behind me unless I continuously look back. they should have laws like in Denmark and give bicyclists the right of way. also make separate bike trails throughout the city. |
| 95 |
Sept is Maybe the Best Time to Visit Shanghai Glad that the weather is cooling down in Shanghai and making for comfortable days and nights. I can even stroll outside in my PJ's and enjoy the new day. |

Who is Chinabounder it is easy to legislate morals but it's a whole different thing to try to enforce them. There will always be cheap guys and, yes, also cheap girls. |
| 91 |
Who is Chinabounder if I happen to run into ChinaBounder, I'll let you know. are you sure that's how he spells his name and not ChinaPounder? he's reportedly pounding all those Chinese girls in Shanghai I find it hard to believe that many Shanghai girls would be interested in such a guy. |

Rujia Qingdao, Fuzhou Road where is the plush carpeting on the floor? I can't sleep in a motel room without some carpeting, especially during the cold winter months. who wants to get out of bed to step on an ice cold floor. yes, the shower flooring looks like it would get extremely slippery. need to wear a protective football helmet while showering, knee and elbow pads. |

I Want to Go to India Rishi The Philippines bans divorce but that doesn't automatically make marriages better there. |

I Want to Go to India Rishi that was a very good post about India and its cultures. yes indeed, the food is extremely hot. that is the character of authentic Indian curry. at first I almost caught on fire eating it at the Indian embassy but then grew accustomed to it over time and liked it very hot and spicey. at many Indian restaurants in Western countries, the curry is made too mild to satisfy Western taste. I always thought that India was basically split about 50% Hindu and 50% Muslim. |

Middle Ring of Shanghai the switch didn't work? a switch should be the very last thing to go bad. The a/c in my BMW started getting weak, brought it to the garage to discover that there is a micron filter over the a/c evaporator underneath the dash which caused the obstruction in a/c flow. it was a dirty filter which blocked cold air off the evaporator flowing into the car's cabin. Replaced the filter, fully recharged the a/c system and Voila!!!!! it works great again....I can almost freeze in August 36+ C temps. Some people who get into my car ask me to turn down the a/c because they get too cold. |

Top 3 Issues of Shanghai Tourism Stephen, thanks for the great advice. what happens though if the server brings the rice to me on a plate instead of in a bowl? do I pick up the plate of rice and use the sticks to shovel the rice into my mouth? isn't there such a thing as Chinese etiquette while eating? |

Top 3 Issues of Shanghai Tourism one important thing which needs improvement is help tourists using chopsticks to eat rice. I cannot effectively load much rice using just chopsticks. |

China's Low-Cost Spring Airlines Hshar don't worry about safety maintenance because that's of no concern to this new low-cost airline. If one goes down, Spring Airline just writes it off and schedules the next flight as soon as they can find another plane to spring into action. It's cheap and actually relatively efficient. oh yes,and Spring Airline's pilots don't have a lot of training but they know enough to be able to takeoff and generally navigate to where they want to go. |

Common Sense here is a story of no common sense and decency involving a husband divorcing his paralyzed wife. she was paralyzed in a bus accident on their honeymoon last year. The Husband also reportedly stole the donations for his wife’s medical treatment..nice guy Man wants to divorce paralyzed wife Winny Wang 2006-07-14 A WOMAN, who was paralyzed in a traffic accident on her honeymoon several months ago, is suffering more now because her husband wants to divorce her, Oriental Morning Post reported today. The couple flew to Lijiang, southwestern China's Yunnan Province, to enjoy their honeymoon on May 2005, but their trip was halted when they were involved in a traffic accident on the way to Yulong Snow Mountain. The wife received medical treatment but was paralyzed from the accident. At that time her husband said he would take care of her for the rest of her life. But the husband brought up divorce proceedings to a local court recently, saying that the two families had contradictions during their marriage, and their love was not as deep as before. "We lived in her parent's home and I tried my best to take care of her, but they always abused me, even in public places and at my company. I had to quit my job," the husband said in his petition. But the woman's father said that he seldom stayed at home, by excuses that he worked overtime or on business trips. The wife also found out that he was flirting with other women according to his chatting record on their computer. The woman's family said they paid 160,000 yuan (US$20,000) for her medical treatment and her husband kept 110,000 yuan that was donated by companies and friends. But the husband said he spent all the money on her treatment, as well as his own salary of 40,000 yuan. When the judge asked the husband whether they could compromise, he insisted on divorcing and the wife rejected the notion. The judge gave the man 10 days reconsider. Chinese story link |
