8 Pressure is About Expectation

I definitely agree that it is how you value life. Why i was so
stressed before I had to keep meeting standards set by others,
pressure on me. Everyone should define his/her own standard of life,
standard of living. As long as you have a set of values, u will be not
be affected by external factors. You will think how to accomodate to
suit your values not vice versa. Such as I know I need to sleep early
and wake up early and need plenty of sleep. Otherwise I will be fan
zao and cannot think clearly and be will be nasty. I have gone through
these horrible stages. Taking more than I can cope will make me hate
work and life.

I know what I want in life. I want a balance work life. I want to
enjoy and learn from my work. I want weekends to do things I want,
hang out with friends, enjoy the nature. I want kids, I want family. I
want to learn cooking. I am not prepared to sacrafice my personal life
for work and money.

Since everyone has their own values to life. Some want money, career,
climb up the corporate ladder, then they need to understand they have
to sacrafice their personal life, personal relationships with friends
and family. I want to help others, do voluntary work, want to help
others, bring a smile on their faces. Life is beautiful, there are
many things we can do except work and money.

Do you agree?

7 Shanghai SARS: Situation Severe

hi!!

thanks again for all the info.

i am studying chinese at jiaotong uni, and today, all the students (not sure about the chinese students, but all of us foreign students at the language school) got a thermometer and those alcohol cotton buds...

we are all hearing rumours that there was a student at jiaotong who collapsed and that an ambulance came to pick that person up..(i have no basis on whether this is true..) anyway, our campus is right in the city...

we also get our student IDs checked (since tuesday of this week) whenever we enter the campus...

5 SARS Websites in China

hi.. i got this news from a hk newspaper. http://scmp.com

PNEUMONIA OUTBREAK
A second victim is confirmed in Shanghai

BILL SAVADOVE in Shanghai

Shanghai yesterday announced its second confirmed case of severe acute respiratory syndrome (Sars) - the father of its first victim - as a team from the World Health Organisation (WHO) prepared to visit the city.
The 68-year-old man, surnamed Li, began to show symptoms four days after his daughter was admitted to hospital after returning from a business trip to southern China, the local government said. The Sars outbreak is believed to have originated in Guangdong province.

Meanwhile, the US consulate in Shanghai said it believed the number of suspected cases in the city stood at six - four Chinese nationals and two foreigners. A spokesman for the Shanghai Health Bureau declined to comment on the figures.

Shanghai officials said earlier this week that the city had only four suspected cases - two foreigners and two mainland residents. Health workers say the true number is far higher.

WHO experts are tentatively planning to visit Shanghai as early as the beginning of next week to investigate and offer advice to city health officials.

Diplomats said they had heard rumours of suspected cases in the cities of Ningbo and Suzhou, but health officials there denied there were any cases. If the rumours prove true, they will be the first known cases in Zhejiang and Jiangsu provinces, which border Shanghai.

The Shanghai Health Bureau spokesman said the latest victim was confirmed to have Sars early yesterday. The authorities announced the first possible case on April 2, and confirmed it two days later. But the city did not confirm that her father had Sars until yesterday. The authorities said both patients were stable.

4 Hospitals and Hotlines for SARS in Shanghai

hey everyone. i just got this info from another media source... and i hope that i won't cause you any trouble by posting it here.. please feel free to erase my message...

in the meantime, please be careful everyone~!! the best thing for us to do is wash our hands, avoid crowded places, use bleach to disinfect... (dettol doesn't work)... etc etc....

its true that the chance of actually dying from sars is very low.. but that doesn't mean we shouldn't take the necessary precautions!! no one should expose themselves to it if it just takes a little effort to avoid getting infected~!! right???

take care!!!

"Nine foreigners have been referred to a Shanghai hospital with suspected Sars, although at least one has already been released after doctors eliminated the virus as the cause of illness.
An official at the Shanghai Pulmonary Hospital, the designated facility for foreigners, said the tally included six Westerners and two from the Asian region but declined to say how many had already been released. All were working in the city."
